Leonard’s Bakery

Home of the island's favorite malasadas

The Bakery

Leonard’s is a landmark of Honolulu’s food scene and it’s freshly made malasadas have become a Hawaiian icon. From its humble origins as a small family-run bakery when it opened in 1952, while still family run, Leonard’s fame has grown to be mentioned in every respectable Oahu travel guide. If you haven’t heard of the tasty malasada, its a holeless Portuguese doughnut brought over to Hawaii from Portuguese plantation workers who started immigrating over to the islands around the beginning of the 20th century. It has since become truly a Hawaiian treat.

In addition to malasadas, Leonard’s offers Pao Doce (Portuguese sweet bread), Portuguese sausage wraps, and other baked treats like cookies, cupcake and pies.
