Alan Davis Beach

Small well-hidden beach cove

The Beach

A small, well hidden beach cove nearby Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail and Pele’s Chair. There’s not much shade so expect to load on the sunscreen. Beautiful scenery around and calm swimming waters.

To access this area, park at the Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail parking lot and take the Kaiwi Shoreline Trail down to the beach (A great place for humpback whale watching). From there you’ll reach the diving boards, where you can take part in some low intensity cliff jumping. You can also reach the Makapu’u tide pools from this area, where you’ll find some beautiful spots for swimming and fishing.

Want to avoid heavy foot traffic? We recommend hitting this location during the week, as weekends are a hot time for locals to visit Alan Davis Beach. It is a safe enough hike for your whole family, but it is still good to be cautious when coming to this area.

Getting Hungry? In the nearby surrounding vicinity you’ll find a few local-eats like Ono Steaks and Shrimp Shack (dine in/order to go) where you can grab some fresh local favorites like the garlic ahi or kalbi & teriyaki chicken combo. Another great grub spot is Kalapawai Market who pride themselves on feature locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, and a refreshing happy hour focused on local wines and beer.

Yearning to explore Alan Davis Beach’s surrounding region? Go for a hike on the Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail, where the paths will lead you to a beautiful lighthouse with gorgeous views of the ocean.
