This ridge hikes starts out easy on a paved road that eventually gives way to a wide dirt road dotted with occasional clearings with views of Honolulu and Hawaii Kai. Once you get to around the midpoint to the summit, you’ll be introduced to the next part of the hike with a set of stairs. From here on out you’ll start gaining in elevation with a series of stairs (some with ropes to help) and be surrounded by impressive ridge views. By the time you reach a radio tower you’ve almost completed the hike. A little up ahead you’ll reach a clearing with a bench, this marks the end of the hike. At this clearing you’ll get breathtaking 360 views of Honolulu, Waikiki and up and down the Windward Coast of Oahu. If you look east you can even preview the more difficult Olomana “Three Peaks” Hike. Up here Be aware that when it’s rainy this trail can get pretty muddy.
The hike is in the gated community of Waialae Iki. When you reach the guard station at the entrance to the community you’ll need to obtain a parking pass for the hike. You can park near the trailhead on Okoa St.
