Muddy hike with a waterfall and pool you can jump into
DIFFICULTY | LENGTH | ELEVATION GAIN | ROUTE TYPE |
Moderate | 2.8 mi / 2-3 hours | 1007 ft | Out & Back |
The Maunawili Falls Trail is a moderately difficult hike located in the Windward Oahu neighborhood of Maunawili. The trail follows Maunawili Stream deeper into the jungle until you reach the waterfall and pool at the end of the hike. There are some spots later in the trail where you’ll climb up in elevation and pop out of the jungle for some nice views of the mountains and valley below. With its jungle setting and the fact that you’ll cross the stream a few times along the way, expect to get wet, and expect the trail to be muddy. Once you reach the end you’ll come to the 20ft waterfall that is Maunawili Falls. You might catch some people jumping off the cliff surrounding the waterfall into the pool of water below.
Street parking available on Kelewina St or the surrounding streets near the trailhead.
