Surf town paradise
Located in the surfer town by the same name, Haleiwa Beach is a favorite by both locals and visitors. It’s split up into two sections by the Anahulu River’s mouth. On the southern side of the river you’ll find many small shops and a plethora of restaurants, and on the northern sides beach park there’s a basketball court, picnic grounds, and the Haleiwa War Memorial along the coastline.
Haleiwa’s calm waters provide optimal conditions for those learning to surf. In fact you’re likely to see many keiki’s (Hawaiian word for children) taking their first surf lessons at Haleiwa. That being said, Haleiwa is also a wonderful surf spot for the more seasoned riders who can enjoy catching consistent 6 footer waves.

For those looking for a leisurely day, you can unfold those towels and unpack your picnic supplies while enjoying the views of surfers paddling out to catch some waves. There’s a chance of seeing green sea turtles in the area, and some like to lounge on the beach.
