Historic pineapple plantation now a family friendly attraction with a maze and train tour
A piece of Hawaiian history, Dole Plantation was started by its namesake, James Dole, back at the beginning of the 20th century when he purchased the 64 acres of land in Central Oahu after moving to the islands from Massachusetts. After experimenting with various crops he finally settled on pineapple, which built the backbone of what is now the largest fruit and vegetable producer in the world, Dole Food Company.
Since 1989, however, Dole Plantation has been providing a fun attraction for visiting and residents of Hawaii alike. Attractions include the Pineapple Garden Maze, an Pineapple Express Train Tour, and a Pineapple Garden Tour. And don’t forget to try out the world-famous DoleWhip fruit sorbet treat.
The plantation has a large parking lot right in front.
