The Hike

Aiea Loop Trail is a relatively moderate trail through the forest located in the Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area. While there are a few nice views of the southern coastline and Halawa Valley with the H3 highway running through it, this shade-filled trail is better for observing the local Hawaiian flora, as you’ll pass through groves of the native Koa trees as well as lemon eucalyptus, Norfolk pine and and ohi’a trees. There’s not many steep and difficult areas of the trail and no rock climbing, so it’s a more casual experience than some of Oahu’s more difficult ridge trails.
